A workshop on financing urban public transport projects in the 2014-2020 programming period, jointly organised by the Romanian Ministry for Regional Development and Public Administration (MDRAP) and JASPERS, was held in Bucharest on 26 November 2015. The event was targeted at Romanian municipal transport authorities. About 100 participants from a large number of municipalities attended.
The purpose of the workshop was to improve the understanding of the implementation of urban transport objectives through PSO contracts. The topics addressed included the preparation, financing and monitoring of PSO contracts, the role of the competent authority and the service provider, and the drafting of sustainable urban mobility plans. During the workshop, the Guidelines for financing urban public transport prepared with the support ofJASPERS were presented and discussed. The workshop concluded with a question and answer session and a summary of the next steps to be taken.
Further assistance for implementing the Guidelines will be provided by the JASPERS Networking Platform, notably through seminars, trainings, case studies and hands-on support to local authorities.
