Third training on environmental requirements for cohesion policy projects in the 2014-2020 programming period

The third Traning session on Environmental requirements for cohesion policy projects in the 2014-2020 programming period was held in Brussels on 31 January 2018.

The JASPERS Networking Platform was created to complement JASPERS project advisory operations by implementing knowledge sharing and capacity building activities, as well as fostering dissemination of good practices and exchange of experiences among all EU member states, pre-accession countries and other JASPERS Stakeholders.

The JASPERS Networking Platform is open to relevant authorities from all EU Member States (EU 28), as well as pre-accession Countries.

The training was the third of a series of events that aimed at addressing in detail environmental requirements for projects in the period 2014-2020.

The target group of the training were representatives from managing authorities and line ministries and beneficiaries that currently are or will be responsible for the preparation of projects in the period 2014-2020. The training was also addressed to authorities in Member States responsible for the permitting of new infrastructure projects.

The aim of this particular session was to take stock of lessons learnt in the years 2015-2017 and focus on topics such as requirements of the amended EIA Directive and transitional provisions for projects, assessing project compliance with the Water Framework Directive - taking into consideration recent CIS guidance No. 36 concerning exemptions to the Environmental Objectives according to Article 4(7) - and the Habitats Directive.

The training was organised in close cooperation with DG REGIO and DG ENVIRONMENT.
